Truck rear-ends bus in North Carolina

While no one wants to be involved in a motor vehicle accident, when certain vehicles are involved the chance that the outcome will be catastrophic increases. Collisions between tractor-trailers and buses may be the perfect recipe for disaster on that front. A crash that recently occurred in North Carolina illustrates why.

According to authorities the collision occurred when the tractor-trailer failed to stop in time and rear-ended the bus. At the time of the incident the bus was transporting students to a camp. A total of 60 students were passengers on the bus when the incident occurred. As a result of the crash, 15 of those students were transported to hospitals. Fortunately, none of their injuries were fatal. In fact, they were described as minor.

The outcome of this truck accident clearly could have been much worse. When two large and heavy vehicles collide, depending on how fast they were going when they made contact, the physical damage inflicted can be great. In addition, when many people are involved the greater the risk is that someone will suffer a serious injury. In cases where a bus is full, that many more people may be hurt. When these types of accidents occur, it is not uncommon for civil lawsuit to be filed in an effort to recover monetary damages.

Because all of the students who were hurt were released from the hospital shortly after receiving treatment, unless one of the injured party experiences medical consequences as a result of the bus crash, it is doubtful that any personal injury lawsuits will be filed regarding the matter.
