Truck accident in North Carolina involves child

While operating a vehicle in North Carolina, the driver is expected to drive cautiously as any negligence on the part of the driver can cause serious injuries to others on the road. The severity of these injuries can increase significantly if the accident involves a truck. Therefore, there are various laws in North Carolina that are designed to ensure that the trucks that drive in the state are well maintained, and the drivers are qualified and rest appropriately.

Despite the laws and safety mechanisms in the state, truck accidents still occur. One of the most recent accidents occurred when a garbage truck ran over the foot of a teenager. The teenager was on his way to school and was about to board the school bus when the incident happened.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the school bus stopped to board the children. Its lights were on and its stop arm was extended for almost ten seconds. The bus driver then noticed the garbage truck coming towards them from the opposite direction. He started to blow the bus's horn to get the attention of the teenagers who were waiting to get on. Nonetheless, a 16-year-old boy was injured when the truck ran over his foot. He was sent to a local hospital for treatment and was later released. Meanwhile, the driver of the sanitation truck faces charges for failing to stop for a stopped school bus.

Due to the size of many trucks, an accident can cause serious injuries and even death. The family of a truck accident victim may have to investigate the incident in order to hold a negligent truck driver liable for their losses and to seek justice for their loved one.
