Throughout the Raleigh area there are many people for whom a motorcycle is their favored choice of transportation. As is the case with any motor vehicle, it is possible that in the midst of enjoying a ride, a crash could occur. The outcome of these crashes varies due to a variety of factors. In the worst cases the severity of the injuries lead to death. This was sadly the case earlier this month.
The fatal crash, which occurred at the intersection of Spring Forest Road and Hollenden Drive, involved a motorcycle and a car. According to law enforcement, the car was attempting to turn off one of the roads and onto the other when it struck the motorcycle. The force of the impact seriously injured both of the individuals on the motorcycle. The 54-year-old man driving the bike succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His 48-year-old female patient survived and was recovering at an area hospital.
The two individuals in the car suffered only minor injuries. The 19-year-old woman who was behind the wheel of the car is facing criminal charges related to the incident. It is possible that the young woman will face civil charges related to the crash as well. The woman injured in the crash could file a personal injury lawsuit against the woman driving the car. Likewise, loved ones of the man driving the motorcycle could bring a wrongful death lawsuit.
If successful, civil lawsuits like these could result in financial damages. There is nothing money can do to change tragic events. However, it often makes it easier to handle sad circumstance such as these.
