5-car accident leaves two North Carolina children dead

There is nothing more traumatic than losing a loved one to a motor vehicle accident. The emotional devastation is monumental; survivors are left with emotional scars that sometimes never fully heal. The recovery process is strenuous and challenging, but what should not add further strain is the financial burden that is oftentimes placed on survivors following an accident.

A recent tragedy resulted in the death of two young children from North Carolina. The two North Carolina children were riding as passenger in a Dodge Challenger when a tractor-trailer struck their vehicle. The driver, a 28-year old man, along with a passenger, a 30-year-old woman, were both injured in the crash. Three other vehicles were involved in the accident, but only one other driver was injured. The truck driver was not among the injured. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The careless mistake of one driver can cause many vehicles to be pulled into scene of an accident, resulting in injuries and sometimes death. In the case of a fatal motor vehicle accident, family members and loved ones of the victims are oftentimes left with heavy financial challenges that take the form of medical expenses and costs from vehicle damages.

In order to cover these expenses, loved ones of victims in a fatal car accident oftentimes pursue compensation in court. In some cases, compensation is awarded to victims when another driver in an accident is proven to have been negligent. Proving negligence involves gathering evidence that shows the driver was speeding, engaging in distracted driving or acting reckless in myriad other ways. With a strong case targeting a fair settlement, loved ones and victims have a chance to be awarded compensation for medical expenses, funeral bills, lost future earnings and other costs resulting from the accident.
