North Carolina woman arrested after drunken driving charges

by | Mar 28, 2014 | Car Accidents

Life is unpredictable. You never know when tragedy may strike in the form of an accident, causing injury, pain and suffering, perhaps caused by the negligence of a drunk driver. In a recent incident, a North Carolina woman was arrested and charged with drunken driving after a car accident. According to reports, police were called to a supermarket parking lot, where a woman, visibly intoxicated, was found in a car with massive body damage and no tire on the front driver’s side.

Additionally, police stated that another parking lot was a crash scene where they speculated the woman drove at a very high speed, hitting a parked tractor-trailer. The driver failed sobriety tests at the scene. She was arrested and transported to a local hospital, exhibiting belligerent and violent behavior toward police and medical staff.

A blood alcohol test revealed levels almost four times the North Carolina legal limit. The driver was charged with disorderly conduct and driving under the influence of alcohol, among other charges.

No injuries were reported in this accident but if the parking lot had been crowded with people, the outcome could have been very different. As a result of someone else’s irresponsible behavior, innocent lives could have been lost and expensive and unnecessary damaged caused.

A victim of a car accident or the family of a victim killed in a crash can claim compensation for loss of life, property damage and medical expenses. If negligence is found to be the cause of an accident, a victim may be entitled to punitive damages. A Raleigh personal injury attorney can help a victim sort out the facts of the accident in order to recover the right amount of compensation to fit the crime.
