Motorcycle accident injures army veteran and his friend

Reckless driving on the roads continues to be a threat in North Carolina. Through various methods, officials remind drivers to drive safely and watch out for others on the roads. However, some drivers still drive negligently. After an accident, some drivers do not even stay at the scene. Negligent driving may cause pedestrians, motorcyclists or occupants of vehicles to suffer, as a recent motorcycle accident indicates.

Sources said an army veteran and his friend, both on motorcycles, were on their way to deliver a police report to an insurance company when they were struck by a vehicle. The driver of the car did not stop, and left both the injured men on the road.

Police said that the 22-year-old suspect was found 15 minutes after the accident. The driver stated that he did not see the motorcyclists. He was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, unsafe movement in relation to a motorcycle and felony hit and run. He was booked into Davidson County Jail.

The army veteran's girlfriend stated that the accident caused damage to his arm, spine, liver, kidney and an artery near his heart. Doctors also had to operate on his wrist, and have not ruled out the possibility of future surgeries. She says he is trying to eat, move out of bed and walk, and she expects physical therapy for the army veteran will be difficult as well.

As lots of expenses are involved in treatment of serious injuries, the army veteran will likely need extensive funds. His friends are trying to raise money for his medical expenses. Thorough investigation and diligent research may help a motorcycle accident victim claim damages and receive due compensation from a negligent driver.
