Authorities in North Carolina have implemented various safety measures in order to reduce the number of car accidents that cause injuries or deaths. Car crashes are often the result of intoxicated driving, inattentiveness, negligence and inexperience, among other reasons.
In numerous road accidents occurring over the past few months, many North Carolina drivers and passengers have been injured or have lost their lives. Even after road safety and security measures were tightened by state troopers, accidents seem to continue to be a common occurrence on North Carolina roadways.
In a recent car accident on a busy interstate highway near Benson, North Carolina, one person lost his life in an afternoon of collision of two vehicles, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. One of the vehicles involved in the crash was driven by a 28-year-old man who wanted to change lanes on the northbound side of the highway. While attempting this, his vehicle collided with another car being driven by a 46-year old woman, according to the police.
The collision resulted one of the vehicles rolling over and into the southbound lanes of the interstate highway, authorities said. According to reports, the 28-year-old driver lost his life at the scene while a passenger in his car was grievously injured and had to be airlifted to the nearest medical center.
The other car, operated by a female driver, contained that woman’s husband and two children, who were uninjured. Following the crash, the southbound lanes of the interstate were closed, causing delays for hours.
