Multi-vehicle crash in North Carolina leaves two dead

Motor vehicle accidents account for large number of fatalities every year throughout the United States, including North Carolina. These accidents can be attributed to a multitude of factors including reckless driving, drunk driving, and distracted driving, among others.

Around 3 p.m. on the afternoon of July 15, a three vehicle crash in the Fort Bragg Training area in North Carolina claimed the lives of two people. The civilians who died in the crash were not affiliated with the military, according to the news release from Fort Bragg. A police investigation revealed that one of the victims, 28-years-old, was driving down Vass Road west-bound, when he reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle and collided head on with a car travelling in the opposite direction. Following the collision, a semitrailer truck struck the two vehicles, splitting the cars in half.

The 28-year-old driver of the car died at the scene, and the driver of the other car, an 84-year-old man, was rushed to a nearby medical center where he was pronounced dead by civilian medical authorities. The driver of the semitrailer truck did not suffer any injuries in the crash. Following the accident, North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers notified the victims' families of the accident.

At the time of this writing, it was not revealed what led the semitrailer truck to crash into the two other vehicles. If it is determined that reckless driving or negligence was a factor in the accident, the accident victims' families may seek compensation for their losses.
