Speeding suspect in area injury car accident

On Behalf of | Feb 9, 2017 | Car Accidents

It is often easy to focus on drunk or distracted driving as the cause of serious and even fatal accidents in the Cary, North Carolina. Sometimes, however, a serious accident can result from just driving too fast for the conditions.

After all, speed limits are posted, alongside North Carolina roads not just to give police a reason to write tickets. They are posted as warnings to people that going over those speed limits is likely to endanger other motorists. People who choose to speed on North Carolina’s roads do so not only at their own risk, but also to the detriment of everyone else on the road.

A recent case involving a car wreck illustrates this point. Police working the scene of an injury accident in the Raleigh metro area indicated that at least one of the vehicles involving was traveling at a “high rate of speed” and struck another vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is no word as to whether the police have issued any citations. According to reports, medical crews had to take four people to the hospital because of the accident. The current condition of the victims was not reported.

The accident happened on U.S. Highway 70, a major artery through the Raleigh area. Cleanup from the car crash required closure of the highway, although the accident took place in the overnight hours.

Hopefully, the victims of the accident will be able to make a full recovery, but that is far from certain. In any event, these people will no doubt have medical and hospital bills to pay because of this accident and may have to miss work or even undergo rehabilitation.

While police are still sorting the details of this incident, speeding may have been involved. Those who were injured because of the actions of the speeding driver may be entitled to compensation.
