Hit-and-run driver injures pedestrian near high school

School zones are especially busy places in North Carolina. There are students coming to and from school, while many are walking. A recent accident near a high school stresses the importance of remaining vigilant in these busy areas.

Recently, a 17-year-old girl was struck by a car as she was walking to school in Wake Forest. The teen was in the crosswalk on Stadium Drive when a car driven by a 16-year-old girl attempted to make a left turn and hit the teen. She drove off and left the scene but did return later. The driver has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk, hit and run, and a movement violation. The victim was taken to a local hospital. Police say the driver was distracted at the time of the incident.

No one expects their loved one to be involved in a serious accident. But, these accidents can occur in a blink of an eye, sending a family into an emotional and financial spiral. When a loved one is injured in an accident, a family may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury.

An attorney can investigate the cause of the car accident by visiting the accident scene, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing police reports. An attorney can hold the negligent party responsible and recover compensation for the victim and their family. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages. If you have been injured by a negligent driver, you may wish to speak with an attorney about the facts of your case.
