Drunk driving a concern in North Carolina

Many North Carolina residents enjoy having a glass of wine, cocktail, or beer, occasionally. Drinking alcohol is a way for adults to socialize and relax after a long week. But, when a person makes the decision to drive after they have been drinking, it can lead to a deadly situation.

Drunk driving is a problem in North Carolina. Drunk driving accidents are completely preventable, which makes them that much more tragic for families. In 2016, 354 people were killed in North Carolina due to drunk driving. This is 354 families whose lives were turned upside down because someone made the decision to drive after they have been drinking.

Drunk driving causes a driver to have a delayed reaction time. A person who is drunk may also not be able to see as well, especially at night. Drunk drivers also have problems concentrating, making decisions, and have coordination issues. Drunk drivers on North Carolina roads are dangerous. There's nothing that can prepare a driver for an interaction with a drunk driver. If a family has been affected by a drunk driving accident, they may want to speak with a legal professional skilled in personal injury. An attorney understands the heartbreak a family is going through and will work hard to hold the negligent party responsible. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, funeral expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.

No one expects they will be involved in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. Unfortunately, hundreds of North Carolina residents are affected each year by a drunk driver. Holding a drunk driver responsible for their negligence is important to make sure they don't hurt anyone else.
