Woman critically injured in hit and run

On Behalf of | Mar 8, 2018 | Car Accidents

There are many people who walk around the neighborhoods of Cary. Walking is good exercise and is a way for people to get from one place to another. Most of the time, drivers are good about being watchful for pedestrians, but, occasionally, a serious accident occurs where a pedestrian is injured.

A woman was critically injured recently when she was hit by a car. The woman was found lying in the street near N. Hyde Avenue and Lowry Avenue in east Durham. The driver who hit the woman drove away and is still being sought by authorities. The woman was taken to a local hospital for critical injuries.

No one expects they will be hit by a car when they are out walking on neighborhood streets. Luckily, these accidents are rare, but, when they occur, they can severely disrupt a family. The injured victim can be out of work for weeks or even months, not being able to pay the bills. Along with not bringing in any money, the medical expenses can be overwhelming.

If a family finds themselves in this stressful situation, they may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury. An attorney can help a family find out what happened and who is responsible. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.

A serious car accident can negatively impact a family, both emotionally and financially. When an accident is caused by another person’s negligence, the victim has the legal right to hold them responsible.
