Trucking logs contain important information

Cary area residents share the road with commercial trucks every day. These trucks are important in moving items across the state and country. Most of the time commercial semi trucks and cars are able to safely share the road, but occasionally a serious truck accident occurs. A trucking log is a record of valuable information about commercial truck drivers and their rig. This information can be used in the event of an accident.

Truck drivers are required to keep information about the amount of time they spend driving, the amount of time they spend off duty, the amount of time they spend sleeping, and the amount of time they spend on duty. This information is recorded in a log book which traditionally was in paper form. Electronic log books are now required for truck drivers. However, electronic records are not required for trucks made before the year 2000. They are also not required for trucks that do not cross state lines.

When a person is involved in an accident involving a truck, there are often serious injuries involved. Due to the size of a truck and the size of a car, even a minor fender bender can bring serious property damage and injuries. If a family has a loved one who has been involved in a serious truck crash they may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury. An attorney can visit the accident scene and interview witnesses, review the police report and the trucking log, and get answers as to what happened. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages and other damages.

No one expects they will be involved in an accident involving a semi-truck. Unfortunately, many families are affected by this situation every year. Truck drivers are required to keep logs of their time which can e helpful in figuring out what caused the accident.
