Cell phone use while driving is still an issue in North Carolina

Most people in the Cary area understand the importance of safe driving. Safe driving not only means driving the speed limit, but also means paying attention. For some people, putting down the cell phone is a hard habit to break, but if people continue to use their cell phone, serious car accidents occur.

Although texting while driving, including texting and emailing, is against the law in North Carolina, it is still occurring on a regular basis. State troopers observed that while the number of impaired driving accidents are down, the number of suspected distracted driving accidents have increased. Although, it can be hard to prove that a driver was engaged in distracted driving activity, often this driving results in motorists crossing center lines or drifting off the side of the road.

North Carolina state troopers urge the public to work together to end this dangerous cycle. Families need to make sure their children understand how dangerous this activity can be and companies need to ban cell phone use in company vehicles.

Distracted driving affects hundreds of families each year in North Carolina. These accidents can cause serious injuries and even death. Families can be plunged into unexpected mountains of debt and emotional trauma. A legal professional who is skilled in personal injury can help their client who is facing an unexpected injury due to no fault of their own. They can visit the accident scene and interview witnesses, review police reports, and help determine what happened to cause the accident. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, funeral expenses, pain and suffering and other damages.

Cell phone use continues to be a problem in North Carolina. It is important for drivers to understand how important it is to engage in safe driving at all times. Too many families have been affected by dangerous driving.
