Four killed in truck crash

| Sep 27, 2018 | Truck Accidents

North Carolina residents understand that they have to share the road with many types of trucks. Usually, this can be done safely, but occasionally, a serious truck accident occurs. When a car gets into an accident with a truck, the injuries are often severe just because of the size difference between a truck and a car.

A tragic car accident recently occurred in Warren County. A husband and wife and their two children were traveling on I-85 when they came up on another car accident. Traffic was stopped because of the accident, but a semi-truck traveling behind the family did not stop and slammed into the back of their SUV. The impact of that crash pushed their SUV into a van and underneath another tractor-trailer.

The entire family died in the crash and four others in other vehicles were injured. The driver of the tractor-trailer that rear ended the family has been charged with death by motor vehicle and reckless driving.

No one ever expects their loved one will be involved in a serious accident. When this tragedy occurs, a family can suffer extreme emotional distress and financial loss. Many families face unexpected medical expenses as well as lost wages and other financial hardships.

A legal professional who specializes in personal injury can help a family who has lost a loved one in an unexpected accident. They can investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and help determine what happened to cause the accident and who is at fault. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, funeral expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.

Losing a loved one because of an unexpected accident is a traffic situation. When the accident is caused by another person’s negligence, it is important to hold them responsible for their mistake.
