School bus accident sends several to hospital

| Nov 8, 2018 | Commercial Vehicle Accidents

Cary area drivers understand the importance of driving safely. Safe driving is important to those who are driving and for those drivers who meet along the way. With school back in session, it is more important than ever to pay attention to school buses and pedestrians. Unfortunately, a serious truck accident involving a school bus recently occurred in North Carolina.

A scary scene occurred in Craven County. A school bus with 27 children on board was hit by a logging truck in Dover. The school bus was stopped to load a child with a two-axle truck pulling a trailer stopped behind it. The logging truck came up to the two vehicles, did not slow down and hit the truck pulling the trailer, which then collided with the school bus. As the result of the accident, two people were brought to a local hospital, and the driver of the logging truck has been charged with careless and reckless driving.

School bus accidents, although rare, can be serious. No parent expects their child will be seriously hurt as the result of an accident in a bus when they are on their way to school or on their way home. If a family is dealing with a situation where their child was injured in a car accident, they may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury. An attorney can review the situation surround the accident and help determine what happened and who is responsible. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering and other damages.

Drivers who approach school buses need to be especially cautious. It is important for drivers to understand that engaging in unsafe practices, such as speeding, using their cellphones, etc. can result in a tragic accident.
