Teen driver causes serious accident in Raleigh

As parents of Cary area teens know, their children don't always make the best decisions. Teen drivers are consistently ranked as some of the worst drivers on the road. Teen drivers continue to cause many accidents in the Cary area and around North Carolina. A serious accident caused by a teen driver in Raleigh has left several with serious injuries.

Recently a teen driver that was driving over 20 mph over the speed limit caused a serious accident on New Bern Avenue.

The teen, who was driving at least 65 mph in a 45 mph zone, crossed the median and hit a Chevrolet Equinox. The accident occurred just east of Rogers Lane. As a result of the accident the teen's car caught fire.

Three teens in the car and the driver of the Chevrolet Equinox that was hit were taken to WakeMed for serious injuries. The teen has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision and failure to comply with restrictions on a driver's license. Teen drivers are only allowed to have one teen in the car, and this driver had two teen passengers.

Although most Cary area residents will be involved in a car accident at least once in their driving career, no one expects they will be in a serious accident. Still, dangerous driving behaviors like driving while intoxicated, distracted driving and speeding can and often do cause them.

If a family has been affected by a negligent driver, they may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury. An attorney can help the family determine what happened to cause the accident and who is at fault. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.

When a family is affected by a negligent driver, they have the legal right to hold them accountable. An attorney can help a family with their unexpected medical expenses along with emotional trauma and other financial strain they may be facing because of another driver's negligence.
