Motorcyclist injured after being hit by van in Raleigh

Road casualties are common across the nation, and North Carolina is no exception to it. A large number of people are killed or suffer serious injuries due to negligence on the part of other drivers. Examples of such negligence would include speeding, distracted driving, drunk driving, disregard to traffic rules and other similar acts.

In a recent incident, a 25-year-old motorcyclist suffered severe bodily injuries after being struck by a van on Fayetteville Road while he was on his way to Raleigh. According to police, the incident happened when the victim's motorcycle was struck by the van, which was being driven by an 84-year-old driver. Apparently, the driver of the van failed to yield the right-of-way to the victim, who was driving in the left lane and was about to turn left onto Maxwell Drive.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Reportedly, he suffered a broken femur, pelvis, tibia and fibula, all on the right side of his body. The driver of the van is now facing charges for failure to yield. None of the occupants of the van were hurt in the mishap.

Motorcycle accidents, perhaps the most disastrous of any motor vehicle accident, cause awful injuries that alter the lives of victims and their families forever. If you or a loved one has been hurt in a motorcycle accident, it is important to be aware of your potential right to compensation for the damages you have suffered.

Victims who suffer injuries due to negligence of drivers can attempt to hold those drivers liable for the loss and suffering. Victims may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost income and disability.
