Surveillance footage could be helpful after a crash

When you were struck by another driver, you ended up being badly hurt. You knew that your life was going to be different as soon as you saw that you couldn't feel your legs.

Your intention is to hold the other driver responsible for the crash, but at the scene, they kept saying that you were the one who caused the collision. They blamed you time and time again, even though you had a green light at the intersection.

It's important to you that you are not blamed for a crash that wasn't your fault, and you also want to make sure you can seek the compensation that you're going to need in the future. What should you do?

Try getting surveillance of the collision

One great thing about the fact that you crashed in a populated area is that there are businesses that overlook the intersection. One of the first things your attorney will do is talk to those business owners to see if any of them have video surveillance footage from the time of the crash. If they do, then that surveillance may clearly show who was at fault and who went through a red light.

Security cameras aren't the only thing that might have caught the crash on camera. Some people have dash cams now, so anyone who witnessed the scene and was driving at the time should be asked if they have cameras that were recording. Even if they only caught part of the collision on camera, that video may help your case.

What should you do if you want to get surveillance footage of your collision?

If you think that a video or images from the scene are needed, let your attorney know as soon as you can. They'll reach out to those who were at the scene as well as the business owners and homeowners nearby, so that they can find out if there are any videos or snapshots of the crash happening.

Your attorney will also speak with the police and make sure they understand how the collision was reported. That way, they will know how to move forward with your case and help you get compensation.
