Commercial Vehicle Accidents Archives

New electronic device may reduce commercial vehicle accidents

Unfortunately, commercial vehicle accidents are quite common on North Carolina's roads. It seems like newspapers are often flooded with reports of a commercial vehicle accident. Help may be on the way, though. According to a recent proposal by the U.S. government, commercial vehicles, such as trucks and buses, would have to be equipped with electronic devices that record the operational time of the vehicles. It is hoped the new regulation, if implemented, would reduce the number of wrecks by keeping tired drivers off the road. Drivers of these vehicles would no longer be able to lie, as the device would show the actual length of time the vehicle was in operation.

Driver fatigue may be factor in NC commercial vehicle accident

It is not uncommon for a trucking company to make unreasonable demands on their drivers. Drivers are often expected to make unrealistic deadlines -- and to do so, they sometimes speed or sacrifice necessary rest. There are federal trucking regulations that set in place a number of expectations that apply only to drivers of commercial vehicles. When a driver fails to abide by these regulations, either the driver or the trucking company may be found liable for whatever damages result from an accident.

Will seat belts be required on buses?

For many people buses are the main source of transportation. They are economical and better for the environment than everyone getting in a car. While there are many positive things surrounding the use of buses, in certain situations there may be downsides as well. An example of this is when a bus is involved in an accident. Because buses transport so many people at once, the potential outcome of any crash could be devastating and even result in death. Most would agree that if there is something that can be done to reduce the risk of that happening, it should be done.

Truck rear-ends bus in North Carolina

While no one wants to be involved in a motor vehicle accident, when certain vehicles are involved the chance that the outcome will be catastrophic increases. Collisions between tractor-trailers and buses may be the perfect recipe for disaster on that front. A crash that recently occurred in North Carolina illustrates why.

School bus accidents kickoff new school year in Wake County

The start of a new school year brings with it many exciting changes. In addition to new teachers and outfits for school, students get used to new routines such as riding a school bus. While in a majority of the many trips made transporting children to and from school, the journey is uneventful, there are occasions where the vehicles are involved in bus accidents.
